Major Earthquake Warning 21 February - 7 March 2018

by Frank Hoogerbeets, last updated 12 January 2018, 9:55 UTC

From 21 February to 7 March 2018 rare planetary geometry will undoubtedly cause a significant seismic increase, with probably two eartquakes around magnitude 7.8 at least. However, there is the potential for a mega-thrust earthquake with magnitude 8 or even 9, most likely in the first week of March.

Some of the planetary alignments are similar to those that occurred at the time of very large earthquakes, like the 1960 Chilean earthquake (M 9.5), the 1964 Alaska earthquake (M 9.2) and the 2004 Sumatra earthquake (M 9.3).

On February 21, three planetary alignments converge, which will cause a seismic increase from the 21st to the 24th.

  • 2018-02-21 18:35:36 Earth-Venus-Neptune

On February 25 again three planetary alignments converge, and this will continue increased seismic activity from the 25th to the 28th.

  • 2018-02-25 12:19:55 Earth-Mercury-Neptune
  • 2018-02-25 15:58:13 Sun-Mercury-Venus

Around March 4 no less than six planetary alignments converge. This is very rare and it almost never occurs. What makes it particularly unique is the quadruple alignment on that day with Mercury, the Sun, Mars and Jupiter, accounting for four of the six alignments. It makes March 5 a candidate for large seismic activity.

  • 2018-03-04, 13:55:50 Earth-Sun-Neptune
  • 2018-03-04, 18:03:05 Venus-Mercury-Earth
  • 2018-03-04, 22:09:51 Mercury-Sun-Jupiter
  • 2018-03-05, 0:01:57 Mercury-Sun-Mars

With these multiple convergences this time-frame is more powerful than most others in recent years.

The Cascadia subduction zone comes to mind, as it is the only subduction area in the world that has not experienced a mega-thrust earthquake in recent decades.

In any case, if Earth is going to make up for the low average of larger earthquakes in the last twelve months, then it will be in this time-frame.

This is a timely warning so that everyone has a chance to prepare. And prepare people should, depending on the location and how earthquake prone the location is. There is no way to know exactly where larger earthquakes will occur.

This is a serious warning. We are definitely going to experience a significant seismic increase in this time-frame, but it greatly depends on the condition of Earth's crust how the seismic increase is going to take form. But at least two big tremors are expected.
