I don't really want to believe this, but it does seem that there
are more spiritually inclined women than men. There is evidence of
this in seminar attendance, on mailing lists, as well as on sacred
journeys, and website forums. Would you please lend your balanced
perspective to this biased subject?
And . . .
It seems that every woman I have met over the last two years wants
to know if I am interested in spirituality, as if that were a gauge
of who I am. What exactly is spirituality, anyway? I believe I am
a good man. I keep my promises and commitments, tell the truth, and
honor others' rites, religions, and beliefs. Is this spirituality?
Spirituality is a state of mind more than a condition of beingness.
The mind can think on spiritual subjects, but it is incapable of being
anything. The mind is a composite of ideas, beliefs, and information,
and to expect more from it than this is to disregard the many privileges
that your true self offers. The very idea that women are more spiritual
than men illustrates this, because that which you truly are has no
gender. Men and women in both human and other forms have optimistically
and euphemistically misrepresented themselves and each other from
the time duality took form.
Spirit is contained, reflected and expressed throughout the entire
diversity of life. Plants, trees and the entire vegetable kingdom
reflect spirit; it is one of the primary ways by which you sustain
the spiritual health of your physical body. Without this assistance,
your bodies would not last as long as they do now. Obviously, spirit
is also contained within the animal kingdom and when its flesh is
properly treated and then consumed the beneficial properties can be
many. Needless to say, the mineral kingdom is crystallized, or physicalized
spirit and interaction with it enhances every aspect of life. In all
instances, the more organic, or natural the form, the greater the
benefit for all concerned.
All of the kingdoms, including the human one, are expressions of
the spiritual diversity of the universe. Each world and each dimension
arranges spirit collectively and then individually based upon the
laws of creative experience allotted to that world. Gender then, is
a form of creative expression employed by Spirit to enhance Itself.
Gender is a description not a definition -- a striking importance,
which makes it possible for an individual to change one's gender mid-life,
so to speak. Contrary to public opinion and social guidelines, gender
is not a determining factor in sexuality. This has been a misinterpretation
upon humanity's part that has contributed to a longer than necessary
separation between the sexes, as well as the cultural estrangement
of religious beliefs.
Spirit recognizes itself in everything, never stopping to consider
or evaluate how much or how far it has progressed. In fact, it is
quite unaware of having a spiritual path at all. Spirit Is, therefore
Spirit does, and it never differentiates between the two, because
there is no difference. Why then, does humanity do so, often judging
itself so harshly in the process? Humanity judges that which it deems
is separate from itself, an all too common but impossible paradox.
Humanity compares and judges everything from its left hemisphere to
its right toe, because even these are seen as separate. Failing to
recognize the unique and diverse expressions by which Spirit describes
Itself, humanity ostracizes the very thing it craves most of all,
unity within and throughout diversity. Herein lies the difficulty
humanity experiences in all aspects of life, but perhaps especially
where gender, race, religion and culture are concerned. There is no
tidy word umbrella for this phenomenon, but a certain amount of prejudice
is contained within them all.
Generally speaking, women are not more spiritually inclined than
men, but many if not most of the world's cultures have seen to it
that a man's sensitivity is best expressed through his sensibility,
an unfortunate choice for all humankind. Gender does not express spirit,
but spirit expresses through gender. Spirit is the active force employed
by All That Is/Source/God. It would be quite impossible for It to
restrict Itself to any form, thought, gesture or gender. Why then,
does that belief persist?
Spirit does not go looking for a companion or a mate but spirit does.
In other words, the individualized active force of nature seeks its
complement in the same way that the roots of a tree seek the richer
loamy soil that lies deeper than what the surface soil offers. It
is natural for it to do so, and because it is natural it is also spiritual.
When spirit expresses itself through natural means the results will
always reflect unity through diversity, it cannot be otherwise. Currently,
spiritual diversity among cultures and within genders is not a natural
expression; it is artificial, cosmetic and skewed.
Long ago, the difference between genders was also uniquely striking,
but it could easily be said that the differences enjoyed a more healthy
respect than they do today. For many centuries the diversities were
celebrated as an act of God/Goddess/All That Is, for that which is
Source was known to take many forms and speak many languages, symbolic
and otherwise. The Goddess(es) did not struggle for her place next
to or across from the God(s) as she is seen to do today, because it
was understood that they were two aspects (not halves) of the same
Oneness. They were worshipped for the unique properties of Spirit
that each embodied, but they were studied as one; diversity within
(not between) oneness, do you see?
Much later, there was a shortage of men due to war related circumstances.
The women prayed and made obeisance to the Goddess and eventually
balance was again restored. Much, much later, there was a shortage
of women due to a plague that affected young women above all others.
The men prayed, held ceremony and made offerings to the Great Spirit,
invoking Him to make the men virile enough to bring forth female children.
Where does one aspect of God/Goddess/Spirit end and the next begin?
Which gender is more spiritual?
The difficulties began to arise when humanity was told and later
mistakenly believed that it was made in the likeness of a masculine-clad
god. Although this began innocently enough it could have been quickly
corrected but was not. Upon seeing what it was like to be worshipped,
those who could have course-corrected humanity did not. They had meant
to say that humanity was the likeness of all that is and has ever
been, and that their in-dwelling spirit was the same as that which
embodies all things. But such communication as was possible then included
gestures, symbols and monosyllabic words, and any attempts to right
the wrongs were too little and too late, especially coming from those
whose image was larger and more imposing than the rest.
Although of interest, such investigations into the curious as the
ones we have made today are no more than obiter dictum, incidental
observations that while arising from some authority, are no more binding
on the future than any present doctrine, for the questions still remain:
why does it seem that the genders come apart more easily than together
where spirit is concerned? Why does the perception of spiritual gender
inequality persist?
For the most part, it is an echo from the past. The perception of
a less than spiritually motivated (hu)man is a false-reality, which
like a false-positive test result, still exists within the parasympathetic
nervous system of humanity. While not exclusively true, it is more
pronounced in men than in women, and chronologically speaking, it
is more pronounced in the older generations of both men and women.
The parasympathetic system controls the involuntary and unconscious
functions of the body. It is also related to the more left-brain activities
of the mind, those associated with or involving knowledge and skills
of an analytic nature. By contrast, the sympathetic nervous system,
the part of the autonomic system that is most active during stress
or danger, is currently more favorably in balance. The sympathetic
nervous system is involved with regulating pulse and blood pressure,
dilating pupils, and changing muscle tone. It is also concerned with
the right half of the cerebrum, those associated with governing right-brain
activities such as those that involve emotions and creative ability.
Humanity is very quickly approaching a crossroads that will shift
it collectively from one age to the next. It is a time of precessional
evolution in which the regular motion of the axis of a (spinning)
body increases or quickens, thereby accelerating time, space, frequency
and dimension. As you might imagine, the closer humanity gets to this
crossroads the more prone to stress it becomes, making the regulation
of the pulse more important than ever. Given what we have just revealed,
one can make the likely assumption that the sympathetic nervous system
with its right-brain activities is currently more actively engaged
than the parasympathetic system with its more left-brain related activities,
and while analytical processes are more than necessary now, creative
results are paramount.
Do not gloss over these words so quickly as to assume that you now
understand why women seem to perceive a greater need for the expression
of spirit at this time, for while the mental body is wrapped is masculine
energy in both men and women, the emotional body is decorated in feminine
energy in both. The differences then, are in how these bodies of energy
are layered, one being more transparent and the other more opaque.
While subtle, differences in energy affect everything from frequency
and well-being to the desire for sensual and spiritual expression.
Building upon what has already been said, it is safe to say that
every layer of your beingness is already, or is about to, alter its
expression, frequency, auric color, and personal vibration. The precession
of the earth in this regard ensures your own, do you see? Generically
speaking, those with a more pronounced emotional body are more translucent
in nature while those with a more pronounced mental body are more
transcendent in nature. This phenomenon is indicative of change but
not necessarily of spiritual advancement or moral superiority. Both
phenomena relate to supernatural and supranatural experience, that
which takes place beyond the material world; independent of normal
human experience but within the range of possible knowledge.
Adaptability can be seen in almost every species and kingdom, but
extinction can as well. Such conditions are normal during times of
evolutional leaps in consciousness. That which is physical, being
the densest, must sooner or later give way to the finer substances
and fabrics of being. As the same law applies equally to all beings
and all things, both men and women can be said to be in great transition,
during which obvious and subtle differences alike seem more pronounced
than any prevailing similarities. Great opportunities are therefore
hidden within equally generous challenges and while survival of the
fittest may apply to the animal kingdom, the union of humanity's spirit
depends upon its tolerance and its willingness to self-investigate
and self-heal. Humanity is vulnerable now, and while it would rather
build walls it would be much better off building bridges, and if the
bridges were constructed of spirit so much the better.
