It’s been over a month since the formation appeared in oilseed rape (canola) on top of Beacon Hill at Oliver’s Castle (hill fort) North of Devizes, so with the yellow flowers mostly disappeared from other rape fields you might think that the crop circle wouldn’t be much to look at now. But I remembered how the 1999 Eclipse crop circle was spectacular after the flowershad disappeared from the surrounding field, but were still in the flattened part of that formation -- because downed plants keep blooming longer in an effort to overcome their disadvantage.

So when I flew to shoot the Star on Morgan’s Hill, I figured it was worth a side trip over to Oliver’s castle to see if that crop circle was in the magical stage. And sure enough, the design was boldly standing out in yellow against the dull green of the rest of the field whose plants had gone to seed.

This simple but stunning design appeared when I was still in The States, on May 15th -- the first circle event of the 2007. At 333 feet in diameter it’s the largest circular formation ever in rape.

This circle glyph was discovered from the air around noon on April 15. It sits alongside Oliver’s Castle near Devizes, Wiltshire and can be viewed from the Castle embankment.

The glyph is in a field of flowering oil-seed rape. Crop is standing at about four feet high.

The pattern spans across 333ft of the field with the outer ring of the main circle measuring 33ft width. Seven arcs, each approximately 5ft wide cut through the central body of the circle.

Even though this formation was reported today all indications on the ground point towards it having been around for at least two days. Much of the crop is fully recovered to its original upright growing position, with no damage sustained to this portion of the crop. About half of the crop that is still laid down is un-broken and continuing to grow horizontal, whilst the other half of the still downed crop is damaged by agencies unknown at this time.

The 2007 season opener in Wiltshire is clearly an extremely well defined continuation of the three dimensional events from 2006.

The crop formation at Oliver’s Castle is an important first event for the season. Last year we were witnessing the message of the time portals in the fields, an exciting and dramatic change in direction for the Circlemakers. This dynamic image beside the Hill Fort just outside of Devizes is a clear demonstration of what could be in store for us in the coming months.

From the aerial photograph it would first appear that there is some kind of referencing towards the five tramlines that cut through the design. However the central tramline is slightly off from the formation’s centre to create the outer ring, which is rather cunning in its creation.

The Master is at work again!

Oliver's Castle of April 15 could show an astronomical code, but we need to know its precise alignment in the field to interpret it. We see there some "round ball", possibly meant to represent Sun or Earth, with "waves from space" passing through it.

On sunrise of the day it was made, the source of those waves in the sky (along the horizon) should have lined up with some distant astronomical object, if those crop artists are intelligent at all.

Thus if someone could please measure: (i) the compass reading of an imaginary point on the horizon where those "crop waves" originate; along with (ii) a compass reading of the Sun at sunrise from the same location, we can figure it all out.

In other words, we need to know how far north or south of the rising Sun, the overall crop picture is aligned? Looking in a direction where those crop-waves came from, not where they are going?

If such alignment is somehow very far from the rising Sun, say in the North, South or West, then I have simply gotten it wrong. Please feel free to forward this to others as you wish.

I think this circle is based on the Eye of God divine proportion (see attached). Assuming this, my graphic comes up with 9 circles of which the lens only shows 7. When using sacred geometry proportions 'feel' right, versus 'naked' geometry which is right but lacks the connection to the divine (I'm not sure you just omitted design elements in your graphic), and I think all genuine crop circle are based on divine proportion and sacred geometry.

Please feel free to use my graphic with proper reference, or to refer to my site from your page, as the latest circle graphic is shown on my front-page also Eye of God crop circle from April 15th at Oliver Castle UK, based on the 4 by 8 divine ratio of the Vesica Piscis, circles of 8 duplicated 9 times. The lens of diameter 4 then shifts upwards and exposes only 7 of the 9 circles. Quite a bang to start the 2007 season with! www.kamadon.com

These Rape-Seed (Canola) stems were taken from within the formation some days after it was first reported. The steep rigid bends seen here at the base of these very brittle stems were prevalent throughout the laid crop in the formation in a more or less even distribution, as were many broken examples, that appear to be the result of foot stomping, perhaps by previous visitors, or some other mechanical actions. The plants that exhibited such anomalous bending at the base continue to grow parallel with the ground.
